What To Do?
It is VERY IMPORTANT to start a cleanse with a raw diet at least 1 day prior to juice cleansing. All raw refers to fresh, raw fruits and vegetables. No meat, no dairy, no processed foods; just raw fruits and vegetables. By going all-raw ahead of time, your body is prepared for the cleanse and is more willing to release the toxins and fat that are stored inside the body.
While cleansing your metabolism becomes almost nonexistent. You are no longer solely digesting; you are focusing on absorbing nutrients and healing. Ignore the cravings! It’s just a few days of your life and it will benefit you beyond your expectations. During the cleanse you will have 5 juices a day. You should be drinking a juice about every 2 ½ hours, depending on how long you are awake during the day. Herbal teas and a lot of water throughout the day help to keep you hydrated and have something in your stomach.
Teas can be very beneficial and give you a different flavor outside of water. Green tea is a great natural alternative to help kick start your day instead of the standard cup of coffee. Ginger tea benefits everything from your organs, to the blood system, and even your respiratory system, etc. Peppermint tea, Chamomile tea, Rooibos tea, Dandelion tea, etc, are several options you have to choose from.
It is vital for you to eat all raw as you break your cleanse. The first day after your cleanse needs to be all raw fruits and vegetables. To break your fast, you need to ease your body back into regular digestion. Otherwise, any weight you have lost in the process will return. Pay attention to your body. Eating fruits like grapefruit, watermelon that naturally have a lot of water content are fantastic for breaking a fast. Smoothies are an ideal dinner the first couple of days as they are rich in fiber and hold the essential nutrients that your body requires.
What To Expect:
Remember to drink A LOT of water throughout your cleanse. Getting pure, distilled water is strongly suggested if you have access to it. During a juice fast stored toxins are being dislodged from your organs and tissues, as they are released there may be some less-than desirable effects, depending on your toxicity. They will subside after a short time and followed by feelings of well being, mental clarity, and emotional and physical balance.
Sweating regularly will help greatly reduce the negative effects. If you have access to a sauna that is perfect for 20-40 minutes daily, otherwise taking a 30 minute hot bath daily will help you to sweat and reduce any kind of negative detoxing effects. Sweating while working out is not the same as sauna-type sweating. You need to relax and sweat without working out your muscles from the inside.
